The BDP crew met taking film classes at BRIC Arts Media and had this idea about shooting daytime dance parties in and around Brooklyn. We liked the idea of daytime so we wouldn't have to make people self conscious with lights. We avoided the big ticket well publicized events that probably have their own video coverage anyway.

We are particularly inspired by the 1973 documentary Wattstax. Ostensibly a concert film about a soul music festival in Watts, the amazing interviews and scenes of folks dancing at the show transform the film into a time capsule of the American experience. We hope to catch a snapshot of early 21st century life in Brooklyn, which is a gas.
